club Rules

  • Membership: Gin Mill Card Club is a private social club made up of members with like interests in poker, sports watching, and other similar social activities. Gin Mill Card Club is a private social club; use of the Club is restricted at all times to Members in good standing. Memberships are available to individuals in daily  terms. All new Members are subject to a 1 month probationary period. Gin Mill Card Club Membership Committee meets monthly to review the status of all Memberships including granting or denying full Membership to probationary Members.

 

  • Prospective Members: Before a person may become a member, he or she must apply for membership with Gin Mill Card Club staff. This can be accomplished by an in person visit to Gin Mill Card Club  Initially, an applicant, upon approval will be granted status as a provisional member. The membership committee will meet monthly to review the applications of provisional members and will grant or deny permanent membership status to a provisional member, conditioned on payment of appropriate membership fees. A provisional member may be denied membership for failure to abide by club rules, discourteous or rude behavior, cheating, dishonesty, excessive intoxication, failure of a background check, failure to pay membership and access fees, or any other reason in the sole determination of the membership committee.

 

  • To be granted provisional membership status and eventual full membership status, an applicant must present a valid government issued identification (e.g. driver’s license), must fill out application for membership, must be appropriately dressed and groomed, pass an interview with Gin Mill Card Club staff and be approved for membership with Gin Mill Card Club staff.

 

  • While Gin Mill Card Club welcomes all applications for membership, not all membership applications will be approved. Gin Mill Card Club is a private social club and each membership application is examined to determine if you would be a good fit for our club.

 

  • A provisional member or member must abide by the rules of Gin Mill Card Club These rules are available as a print out from club staff and are posted on the wall of Gin Mill Card Club Violation of any rule may result in the immediate suspension of membership privileges, and denial of access to Gin Mill Card Club without refund of membership fees or access fees.
     

  • Special Events: Members acknowledge that from time to time, Gin Mill Card Club may have special events, charity events, or exclusive events to which members may be excluded or required to pay an additional fee to attend the event(s).

 

  • Private Place: Gin Mill Card Club is not open to the public. This is a part of what makes Gin Mill Card Club a unique place where members can legally play poker. Gin Mill Card Club is not just about poker, its about friendship, good times, and socializing with people of similar interests. Gin Mill Card Club is a private place open only to provisional members, members, specially approved guests, and Gin Mill Card Club staff. To be legal in Texas, gambling must take place in a private place.

 

  • No House Gambling: Gin Mill Card Club, its owners, and staff make no money nor obtain any economic benefit in any competition, poker, tournament, or other gambling that occurs within the privacy of Gin Mill Card Club This is another key component of legal gambling in Texas. All gambling must only be among the players, therefore there is no house gambling allowed at Gin Mill Card Club To the extent that any staff members participate in any competition, poker, tournament, or other gambling, they do so not as employees of Gin Mill Card Club but solely as equal level competitors with all members. Only players may receive any economic advantage or money from the gambling. Agreements to split money between players and non-players is not allowed in any manner.​

  • Food and Alcohol: Gin Mill Card Club does not serve alcohol at the Lubbock location; however the Webster location has beer, wine, and tobacco for purchase. Members may bring in food and have food delivered. Gin Mill Card Club may provide food catering from time to time for special events. Gin Mill Card Club LUBBOCK is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) establishment. It is not the responsibility of Gin Mill Card Club to limit members' consumption of alcohol. Personal responsibility is required in deciding how much alcohol you consume. Gin Mill Card Club is not responsible if you leave the facility intoxicated and get arrested or charged with an intoxication related offense. We will happily call you a taxi, Uber/Lyft, friend or allow you to utilize the "House Limo" (Webster location ONLY); if you have any questions about whether you may be intoxicated. Gin Mill Card Club reserves the right to remove intoxicated persons for safety, etiquette, and enjoyment of the Members and Staff.

 

  • Firearms and Other Weapons: Texas License to Carry Permit Holders may carry their firearm concealed in accordance with State law. Because we are a private club, and not open to the public, we require members to declare their possession of a firearm upon joining as a member if they intend to carry, or on the first occasion that a member does carry. The member must present the license to carry permit. After you declare for the first time, no further notification is needed. Gin Mill Card Club reserves the right to revoke the privilege or generally prohibit firearms at times that the club deems it appropriate. Other weapons which are legal may be allowed, subject to the approval of Club staff. Gin Mill Card Club does not allow the open carrying of guns. Members may not drink alcohol while carrying a handgun.

 

  • Dues and Fees: Membership dues must be current at all times for Members to use the Club facilities. Unpaid balances must be cleared before a Member can check in for a new session. Memberships are available for $5 daily (Lubbock ONLY) and $10 daily (Webster ONLY).  

 

  • Gameplay: All poker games at Gin Mill Card Club follow World Series of Poker (‘WSOP’) rules for cash and tournament games except where stated below. Gin Mill Card Club dealers and managers are trained in WSOP rules and enforce the spirit and the letter of the rules in all circumstances. Rulings on gameplay are considered final only by discretion of the management of Gin Mill Card Club in accordance with WSOP rules.

 

  • The Line that is clearly visible on the table will define forward action

 

  • English only on or around the tables.
     

  • No electronic device use (phone, tablet, computer, etc.) while playing a live hand. Players not in the hand may reasonably use electronic devices.

 

  • No smoking or vaping is allowed at the tables or anywhere else in the Club. Smoking must occur more than 25 feet from the exterior doors of the Club.

 

  • Taxes: Members are responsible for paying taxes on their winnings, Gin Mill Card Club does not withhold taxes from players' winnings 
     

  • No gang affiliated apparel, no backwards hats and no bandanas
